Day 1: Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Hydroelectric – Aguas Calientes.

The first day of the tour to Machu Picchu by bus begins with pickup between 7:00 and 7:30 a.m., then we depart from Cusco for a 6 and a half hour trip to reach Hidroeléctrica.

During the trip, we will make a stop near Ollantaytambo (10 to 15 minutes), where you will have the option to buy water and/or other snacks or use the bathroom.

Then you will ascend to Abra Málaga, from where you can observe a beautiful landscape of the high Andean area with snow-capped peaks, and then descend to the high jungle, passing through towns such as Santa María and Santa Teresa.

Once you arrive at Hidroeléctrica, you will have time to have lunch, then we will begin a two and a half hour walk (mostly flat) to reach Aguas Calientes (the town of Machu Picchu).

From Hidroelectrica, you also have the option of taking a train (25 minutes) if you do not want to walk, but this has an additional cost of US$ 35 (98% of people walk), once you arrive in Aguas Calientes you will go directly to the accommodation, then you will have a short free time, you can visit the Hot Springs if you wish (entrance price S/15).

Then you will have dinner and at the end the tour guide will give you instructions about the next day’s visit (Night in Aguas Calientes).

Day 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Hydroelectric – Cusco.

Second and last day of the tour to Machu Picchu by bus that starts very early (around 4:30 to 5:00 a.m.).

Ascent to the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. We prepare to begin our ascent to Machu Picchu, it will be a walk of one hour and 40 minutes to get to Machu Picchu, you also have the option of taking a bus to get to the archaeological center of Machu Picchu (25 minutes, cost US$ 12) .

The first bus leaves at 5:30 a.m. Upon arrival at the gate of Machu Picchu, we will meet the guide and the group to begin the tour, we will walk receiving information from our guide for approximately two hours.

This guided tour in Machu Picchu will be around the main parts of the citadel, places of great importance such as the temple of the sun, the house of the Inca, the Zone of Water Mirrors, the Temple of the Condor, the Plaza Mayor, Intiwatana and others .

Then, you will have free time to take photos and explore Machu Picchu on your own until 11:30 a.m. (total stay in the park of 4 to 5 hours).

End of the tour to Machu Picchu by bus, return to Cusco. Then we will have to walk back to the Hydroelectric Plant (3 hours) where we will take our bus (departure at 3:00 p.m.) to return to Cusco again (approximate arrival at 9:30 p.m.).
