Explore Ausangate, the imposing mountain that has been and continues to be one of the most significant since Inca times. In the worldview of the Andean man, this snow-capped mountain represents one of the main deities in both the traditional Andean cult and in the contemporary Christian cult, being also known as Apu Ausangate.
Our 5-day Ausangate Cusco tour proposal is designed for you to discover high mountain landscapes on a route that has not yet received much attention in tourist terms. During this experience, you will have the opportunity to admire Andean communities, spectacular mountain settings, lagoons of various colors and observe Andean camelids in their natural environment, including llamas, alpacas and vicuñas.

We start our tour very early in the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel in the city of Cusco and we will head towards the charming town of Tinke (Tinki), approximately three hours away. After walking for two additional hours, where it will be possible to admire the diversity of flora and fauna in the region. In Upis, we will have a lunch prepared in our camp, we will relax our bodies with hot drinks during the break. At sunset, we will explore the Huayna Ausangate lagoon, capturing the sunset in photographs. This is where we will camp and end our day.

We will wake up early for a delicious breakfast before embarking on the hike to the Arapa Pass, at 4800 meters above sea level, where we will enjoy panoramic views of the mountainous geography and glacial lagoons. We will descend towards the Yanacocha lagoon, monitoring the presence of animals such as chinchillas and vizcachas, with the possibility of spotting deer and, with luck, Andean condors. After lunch near the Hatun Puca Cocha lagoon, we will experience an incredible view of the Andes. Weather permitting, we will stargaze, learn about constellations, have dinner, and rest.

After breakfast, we will continue walking uphill, this is the most demanding day of all, as we will climb two passes, we will ascend for two hours to the Ausangate Apacheta mountain pass, we will descend to the Ausangate cocha lagoon where we will have our snacks and then climb the next step. demanding that is the Palomani pass with its 5200 meters above sea level. Upon reaching the pass, we will have a unique view of the mountains, locating us very close to the base camp where we ascend to the snow-capped Ausangate and the lagoons resulting from the melting of ice. Later, we will descend to the Huchuy Finaya community where we will have lunch, after having recovered energy we will continue towards Sorapata, where our camp will be waiting for us.

Completing our breakfast, we will walk towards the Jampa pass, the path is generally flat, however, in the last part we will have to ascend to 5100 meters above sea level. This tour will take us approximately three hours. Along the way, we will observe herds of alpacas and llamas in their natural habitat. After the Jampa pass, we will descend to the community of Pacchanta, crossing part of the route of the 7 turquoise lagoons, we will have stops to take photographs. Arriving at Pacchanta we will enjoy its medicinal hot springs, relaxing the body in its pools. We will rest in this community.

This day we will briefly visit the town of Tinke, to appreciate a little of its agricultural customs. Finally, we will return to Cusco, we will transfer you to your hotel, thus completing our adventure through Ausangate.
