The 4-day Classic Inca Trail is a hiking route that runs through part of the ‘qhapac ñan’, ancient Inca trails built by the Incas. A part of this route was the one that connected Cusco with Machu Picchu. Today there are 43 kilometers of these roads enabled by the Peruvian State for the famous ‘Inca Trail’ route, from km 89 of the railway to Aguas Calientes to Intipunku, the ancient gateway to Machu Picchu used by the Incas. The route can only be done with an authorized tour which includes camping, a team of porters, a team of cooks, a tour guide, tickets and more.

IMPORTANT: A meeting with our official guide who will accompany and guide you during these 4 days is mandatory the day before. We will give precise information about the walk, distances to walk, what to bring and how to be prepared.
We begin the famous Inka hike. (5h30 am), our team will pick up from the hotel to travel by bus to Piskakucho or Km82, during the trip we will pass through the towns of Chinchero, Urubamba and Ollantaytambo. Upon arrival we will pass the checkpoints. At the beginning we will pass through small archaeological sites until we reach Patallacta, a city of great importance in the time of the Incas.
We continue the walk until we reach Miskay, place of delicious lunch and a short rest. We restart our walk to reach the first camp, Wayllabamba. Afternoon tea with popcorn, biscuits and hot drinks before dinner.

After breakfast, we continue our walk towards Pacaymayo, the most difficult route being the first 3 hours until we reach Warmiwañuska (dead woman). This place gives you the feeling of having reached the highest point and also visualizing all the beauty of the landscape. After a brief rest, we restart our walk to descend to Pacaymayo, for lunch, where everything will be ready to accommodate us in the tents. Afternoon tea before delicious dinner. Night camping in a tent in Pacaymayo.

After breakfast, we continue our walk and begin to ascend to the second pass known as “Abra de Runcurakay” (3970 meters above sea level), where we will visit the very important archaeological site.
After a brief tour we arrived at Sayacmarca, important for its structure and lunch location. After a comforting lunch we continued observing the vegetation and geography of the place, becoming dry and mountainous.
We will pass through tunnels of solid rocks, along the way to reach the city among the clouds “Puyupatamarca”, a place of a lot of fog. We continue our way to Wiñayhuayna, where we descend to 2700 meters above sea level, which has Inka terraces known as platforms, religious and urban sectors. Afternoon tea before dinner. Night camping in a tent in Wiñayhuayna.
Because everything has a reward, the big day has arrived. At 4am after breakfast or bringing a box lunch for the road, we begin our journey to Machu Picchu. We begin a short walk to reach Intipunku and see the sunrise (sun gate). From this place you can see Machu Picchu in all its splendor, then we begin to descend to reach the Inka citadel.
In Machu Picchu we will have a guided tour throughout the citadel, with a lot of information and history. Afterwards there will be free time to continue walking through Machu Picchu, rest, and continue taking more photos and selfies from all angles. The return train schedule to Cusco will be informed by our guides, so don’t worry and just enjoy. Return trip by train to the Ollantaytambo station, upon arrival our staff will be waiting to take you to your hotel in Cusco.
